The green space in urban area has some function. For example the conservation biodiversity, good landscape establishment, absorption carbon dioxide, mitigation of heat island phenomenon. Among these function we focused on to reveal the relation between green space and ecosystem structure.
The research site is Seifu-shinto in the west part of Hiroshima city. Seifu-shinto established under the urban design consultation to make good landscape. It is aimed an international environmental advance city.
First I classified the green spaces into three categories? They are designated park, open flat space and slope types. We investigated vegetation structures, DBH (diameter of breast height of trunks) of component woody species, height of vegetation in 25 green spaces and, in addition 4 peripheral forests. By using vegetation data we calculated species diversity and similarity index of each plot. We could confirm dominant species of each plot.
As the result, species diversity has positive relation to size of green space. Similarity index shows that the value on slope is larger than others. In other words species diversity on slope is small. The dominant species grown in open flat space are similar with peripheral forest’s species.
