This study tried to declare the effect of vegetation management by mowing on hydrarch (P-site) and xerarch (E-site) plant communities for the purpose of Primula Sieboldii E. Morr, habitats conservation on the Nobeyama Plateau. This species is a perennial clonal herb and hygrophyte that is now listed as endangered species (NT) in Japan. The study site on the Nobeyama Plateau about 1350m above sea level, have little hydrarch grand in present. Sano & Okubo (2009)suggested that the rate of succession in P-site community was low relative to other mesic communities, given the marked increase in shrubs over a short period of time, any vegetation management may need to remove competitors. So, the mowing experiment has carried out to remove of competitors from 2007. This management gives the marked decrease in population of shrubs species, and the increase in the PPFD and the number of shoot for one year. On the other hand, this management seemed to has been fear of invasion of alien species and destruction of soil structure. As a result of this study, (1) the degrees of succession (DS) and the dominance ratio of shrubs and trees (Ch, N, M, MM) have continued to decrease in P-site by mowing for four years, (2) the DS decrease in P-site, but one in E-site increased by mowing for one year.
