シンポジウム S09-1 (Lecture in Symposium)
Recently, several kind of infectious diseases, including dengue virus and Zika virus, has been emerged and threaten human health as well. Importantly, many of these infectious diseases are zoonotic infections. To understand mechanisms of these zoonotic infections and to control them, we need to learn ecology and life cycle of these viruses, expecially for the role of vectors. In addition, it is critical and required for us to quantitatively reveal the dynamics of disease transmission. Here, to provide a diverse range of insight on disease control in response to social needs, we are trying to develop a new feild called "Ecological Epidemiology (ECO-EPI)" in the area of Ecology. AS a part of the activities of our development of ECO-EPI, I am organizing a symposium focusing on infectious diseases among human, animal and insect, by inviting with specialists for HIV/AIDS, mosquito borne diseases, mathematical modeling and public health. We would like to discuss a future of our ECO-EPI research.
