Soil salination is serious problem through the world; especially in the northeast China. Salt stress causes the inhibition of enzyme activities and stomatal closure caused by high osmotic pressure of Na⁺. On the other hands, the concentration of ground-level ozone (O₃) has been drastically elevated at the same region. O₃ absorbed via stomata inhibits various physiological reactions of plants. Chinese forest policy rehabilitated desolated area by tree plantation, and where they plant larch species now. Thus, we investigated the effects of salt stress and elevated O₃ on three larch species. Two-year-old larch seedlings were treated with NaCl and NaHCO₃ solution to 200 ml under 60 ppb O₃ for 3 months. Chlorophyll fluorescence was evaluated with PAM-2000. Nutrients and pigment contents of needles were evaluated in same time. In hybrid larch, the increase trend in Fv / Fm, and the significant increase of chlorophyll (p<0.05) at only salt treatment was observed. In discussion, the relationship between these parameters and nutrient contents would be focused.
