Recently Russian boreal forest experience a large numbers of disturbance events, such as wildfire and logging. These events cause a huge loss in forested areas. The ability of vegetation to recover also changes depending on frequency and type of disturbance. The impact of repeated disturbance on vegetation recovery in boreal forest has not been much studied. This study explores how fast vegetation can be recovered after massive fires and intensive logging and how its NDVI value differed. The study also focuses on how different type and frequency of disturbance events have impacts on vegetation recovery process. The classification was employed using forest types and disturbance data from 1988 to 2018. The study found that vegetation recovery rates varied among different disturbance events. The forested area that experienced more frequent massive fires and intensive logging most likely face slower rate of vegetation recovery than the forested area that experience less number of disturbing activities. This suggests that different type of disturbances and their frequency have an impact on vegetation recovery process.
