There is an emerging need for a comprehensive and integrated observation system for biodiversity. Responding to this need, the Group on Earth Biodiversity Observation Network (GEO BON) was formed in February 2008. Corresponding to GEO BON, the first workshop of AP-BON (Asia-Pacific Biodiversity Observation Network) was held in 2009 and then we successfully developed this regional network through four workshops that resulted in documenting a draft implementation plan in December 2011. The purpose of this talk is to introduce activities of AP-BON to the audience and call discussion about implementation of AP-BON for 2012-2015.
