日本における外来種対策はどこまで進展したのか
Recent advance of invasive alien species in Japan

　日本生態学会では、外来種の管理が必要であるとして、2002年に外来種検討作業部会のメンバーが中心となり、外来種ハンドブック〔地人書館）を刊行して、外来種全般に関する知見を網羅すると共に、外来種管理の一貫として法的規制の必要性を訴えた。その後、2004年6月に「特定外来生物による生態系被害の防止に関する法律」〔外来生物法）が制定され、2005年1月に施行され、日本における外来種管理は新たな展開を迎えた。
　今回のフォーラムでは、現状でどこまで外来種対策が進展したのかを具体的な成功事例を取り上げ検証することを目的としている。時間が許せば、その結果を踏まえて、今後の外来種対策を更に進展させるために何が必要かの論議を行いたい。時間の制約上、事例は作業部会委員が係わった問題に限定して設定した。
