Hybrid dandelions between an introduced apomictic species, Taraxacum officinale, and several native sexual species were widespread throughout Japan by the late 1990s. The percentage of hybrids within T. officinale like plants was observed in western Japan from 2000 to 2020, and it was found to have increased slightly over the past decade. We also monitored the clone composition of hybrid dandelions using SSR markers in and around Osaka Prefecture, and found that the clonal composition was changing rapidly. This change could be attributed to rapid changes in urban grasslands due to human activities.
