外来種が定着する原因の一つとして、ペットとして飼育されている外国原産の動物が野外に逃げ出すことが指摘されている。飼鳥は多くの人が一度は飼ったことがあるペットの一つであり 、家庭で飼育されている飼鳥の籠抜が持つ外来生物源としてのポテンシャルを推定することは、外来種定着のメカニズムを理解する上で重要である。意図せずに飼鳥を逃してしまった事例のインターネット上から収集した情報から、特に若い個体が、雌雄ともに毎日野外に逃げている状況が明らかになってきた。また、籠抜数が曜日によって異なるなど籠抜イベントの発生が人間の行動パターンによって大きく影響を受けていることが示唆された。

Accidental release of exotic pets is an important mechanism that introduces non-native species into native environments. Exotic birds are popular pets in Japan that many people have or have had once, and it is important to evaluate their potential impact to the environments as a source of non-native species. Using datasets from Internet resources, we found that younger individuals, both males and females, have escaped into the wild daily. The number of escape varied depending on the day of the week, suggesting that the influx of exotic birds was greatly influenced by behavioral patterns of human activities.
