Mongolia contains some of the largest intact grasslands in the world, but it is vulnerable to future changes in climate and continued increases in the number of domestic livestock. Plant functional traits refer to the adaptive strategies of morphology and physiology gradually formed by plant’s interaction with surrounding environment in the long evolutionary process to reduce the adverse effects of environment .Therefore, it is important to understand the response of plant functional traits to environmental changes such as grazing pattern and climatic conditions.
The objectives of this study are to examine the effects of grazing intensities and contrasting annual precipitations on plant functional traits in Mongolia . In this study,we measured the trait of plant species in the three types grassland and evaluated how response of the trait to the grazing and ungrazing treatments.
