「流暢に話す必要はない。中身のある英語を話すことが大事だ。」このような意見を研究者から何度も聞いたことがありますが、本当にそうでしょうか？「中身のある英語を流暢に話す」ことができた方が良いのではないでしょうか？日本人研究者に決定的に欠けているのが、発話力です。この集会では、発話力を養成するアクティビティを実施し、流暢性を身につけるプロセスを体感して頂きます。また、発話力向上に向けて、メンタルおよび技術面におけるアドバイスを行います。「英語を話す機会がない」「人前で英語を話すのが怖い」「忙しくて時間が取れない」…。本集会は、立場を問わず悩める研究者を応援します。

“You don’t need to speak English fluently. The point is speaking meaningful English.” I have heard this type of opinion from researchers many times, but is this opinion really appropriate? Wouldn’t it be better if we could “speak meaningful English fluently”? Lacking among most Japanese researchers is speaking ability. In this workshop, participants will engage in activities to train speaking ability and experience the process of acquiring fluency in English. I will also provide advice on improving speaking ability from both mental and technical perspectives. “I have no opportunity to speak English”, “I’m afraid of speaking English in front of others”, “I have no time to practice”… This workshop supports researchers worrying about their English regardless of their career stages.
