企画集会 T18-4 (Lecture in Symposium/Workshop)
There are 167 items of commercial agricultural products in Shizuoka prefecture. This is the leading number in Japan. These various agricultural products depend on various kinds of climate, and these various kinds of climate and various agricultural products have produced biodiversity for each area. We investigated examples of native biodiversity in agriculture, and the difference of the image regarding the native living things by the residents from different locations. In this manuscript, we show one characteristic example of native biodiversity in the agriculture in Shizuoka prefecture. The farmers traditionally cover furrows in green-tea fields with grass in mountain areas. Therefore farmers have kept the semi natural grasslands from where this grass is collected. These grasslands, called CHAGUSABA, provide an important habitat for natural plant species. Certain plant species that grow in CHAGUSABA are important for CHANOYU (the Japanese traditional tea ceremony). We considered that CHAGUSABA is a good example of traditional cultural landscape and biodiversity conservation maintained by agricultural cultivation.
