新型コロナウイルスが社会に甚大な影響を与える中、私はフィールド系学生としての博士過程の最終年度を過ごしました。この一年間、フィールド調査や図書館の利用が強く制限されるなど、研究面で大きな影響を受けた他、出張の折の緩やかな情報交換の機会が無くなることで、意欲の面でも打撃を受けました。一方で、学会大会がオンラインで開催されることで、現地開催であれば参加できなかった方々との対話や、遠方で開催される講演会へのオンライン出席など、この社会情勢の中でも新しい楽しさを見つけることもできました。私からは、このようなコロナ社会の中での博士過程学生が直面した困難やその時の正直な気持ち、その中でも見つけた楽しさを紹介させていただきます。

While the covid-19 has a tremendous impact on world society, I spent the final year of my PhD as a student of field science. This year, my research got many negative effects by restrictions of field survey and library use, and motivation has also dropped by lack of opportunities for information exchange during business trips. On the other hand, I found new fun through online conference where we can talk with people who could not participate if it was held on-site, and online attendance at distant lectures. I would like to introduce such difficulties a PhD student has faced in the covid-19 pandemic conditions, the honest feelings at that time, and the joy of overcoming them.
