Dynamic Interactions: unraveling the complex relationship between a changing environment and ecological communitie【E】【O】

Wan-Hsuan CHENG(Natl. Taiwan Univ.), Takeshi MIKI(Ryukoku Univ.)

We reside in a rapidly changing world where the environment undergoes continuous physical and chemical changes that impact the composition, diversity, distribution, and stability of communities. Concurrently, communities themselves continue to influence their surrounding environment by contributing to essential ecosystem functions such as biomass production and nutrient cycling. Understanding these dynamic interactions is critical for formulating effective conservation and management strategies, especially in light of human activities that intensify the pace and extent of environmental changes.
In this symposium, our aim is to elucidate the dynamic interactions between ecological communities and their surrounding environments. We will introduce the foundational principles regarding how the environment affects communities and how communities affect the environment, providing a solid basis for further exploration. Through a series of presentations and discussions, we will explore innovative research methods and practical approaches for studying and managing these complex relationships. Ultimately, our goal is to deepen our understanding of how communities interact with the environment and apply this knowledge to promote sustainability of socio-ecological systems.
