The littoral habitats of lakes were though to be completely different from the pelagic ones through physical and biological process. However, it was the poor understanding for the ecosystem of the littoral zone of lakes in northern Japan. In order to clarify the distributional patterns of the animal assemblages at littoral zone of lake, the invertebrate and fish assemblages were corrected during the period from June to October in 2006 at the littoral zone of Lake Shikotsu in Hokkaido Japan. This paper reported on the temporal pattern of the animal assemblages at three distinct habitats of littoral zone in the oligotrophic lake in Japan.
