The 5th EAFES
International Congress
General Information
The 5th EAFES International Congress (EAFES5) will take place on 17-21 March 2012, at Ryukoku University in Otsu, Shiga, Japan, in conjunction with the 59th Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ59).
The EAFES5 consists of a few plenary lectures, several symposia and poster sessions. Each participant will be approved to give only one presentation through the two conferences (EAFES5+ESJ59).

Program and Date for the Joint Meeting
The meeting will be held at Ryukoku University from Saturday, March 17 to Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Main events are tentatively planned as follows. However, the schedule may be altered depending on the numbers of proposals of symposia, organized sessions, and workshops. Details will be announced on the official web site.

18 Mar (Sun): Symposia, Oral (ESJ only) and poster sessions, Organized sessions, Workshops.

Language
The official language for the 5th EAFES Congress is English.
English titles are available for all the presentations in oral and poster sessions, symposia and several other categories of the meeting in the 59th Annual Meeting of ESJ. However, some of the presentation in ESJ59 will be made in Japanese.
Fee
The registration fee for 5th EAFES Congress 2012 is the same as participants for the 59th annual meeting of ESJ. Regular and student fee are available and the fee of banquet is extra.

Banquet
Enjoy the banquet at Kyoto RIHGA Royal Hotel on the evening of March 20, 2012. Kyoto RIHGA Royal Hotel is a 7 minute walk from JR Kyoto Station.
The banquet will be held in conjunction with the banquet of the 59th Annual Meeting of ESJ (up to 100 people EAEFS5 participants).

Payment

Payments by symposium/poster presenters must be completed by 17:00 (JST) on 9 December 2011 (Friday).Payments by symposium/poster presenters must be completed by 17:00 (JST) on 11 January 2012 (Wednesday). -
We will continue to accept payment by non-presenters on the registiration site (Link) by 15:00 (JST) on 2 March 2012 (Friday). Please make payments on-site after this date.

We strongly recommend you to exchange money to Japanese yen at the airport when you arrive in Japan. After you leave the airport, you can also exchange your money into Japanese yen at authorized foreign exchange banks, but it will take some time. It is not possible to exchange money after you arrive at the Congress place in Ryukoku University.
Cancellation policy

Cancellation of participation will only be accepted till 10 February 2012 (Friday) in unavoidable circumstances (delay in visa issue, etc.) and will be subject to charge JPY 1,575.

Attendance of the banquet and purchase of the book of Abstract can be cancelled by 15:00 (JST) on 2 March 2012 (Friday).
