Rules of Admission and membership fee of the Ecological Society of Japan

Article 1. The enrollment to the Association shall be governed by these rules, in addition to that stipulated in the Articles of Incorporation.

Article 2. A person who intends to become a member of the Association must fill out all the prescribed matters on the application form, and submit it to the prescribed office counter with the membership fee of the corresponding fiscal year.

Article 3. Upon enrollment, all applicants shall select their membership status as regular member or supporting member.

Article 4. The paid membership fee (including remittance fees) will not be refunded under any circumstances. However, if the Board of Directors does not approve the membership, the membership fee for the year submitted along with the membership application will be refunded.

Article 5. The membership fee of the Association shall be governed by these rules, in addition to that stipulated in the Articles of Incorporation.

Article 6. The membership fee shall be paid in full during the relevant fiscal year.

Article 7. The membership fee cannot be paid by dividing the annual amount.

Article 8. The membership fee shall be determined as follows.

Printing subscription
Upon request, members of the Association will receive the following academic journals at 2000 JPY each (including shipping fee).
 A: Japanese Journal of Ecology(issued two times a year)
 B: Japanese Journal of Conservation Ecology(issued two times a year)
* Online subscriptions, including back issues, are available for Ecological Research, Population Ecology and Plant Species Biology.

Article 9. For regular members with low income, if all of the following requirements are met, the annual membership fee for the following fiscal year will be equal to that of regular members (students), based on the person's application.
Requirements
1) Annual income of 2 million JPY or less.
2) The membership fee for the relevant fiscal year is paid at the time of application.

Article 10. For regular members residing in low-income countries/regions, if all of the following requirements are satisfied, the annual membership fee for the following fiscal year will be the same as that of the regular member (student), based on the person's application. Requirements
1) Residing in a country/region on the latest ODA receiving list specified by the OECD.
2) The membership fee for the relevant fiscal year is paid at the time of application.

Article 11. The subscription fee for the academic journals for non-members of the Association shall be the annual amounts listed below.
1) Japanese Journal of Ecology: 5000 JPY
2) Japanese Journal of Conservation Ecology: 5000 JPY

Article 12. Amednments of these rules must be approved by the General Meeting.

Supplementary provision
1) This rule will come into effect on January 24, 2014.
2) This rule will come into effect on January 1, 2018.
3) These rules will come into effect on January 1, 2019.
4) This rule will come into effect on January 1, 2020.
5) This rule will come into effect on January 1, 2022.
6) This rule will come into effect on January 1, 2024.
