The Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Prize) → Past recipients

The Ecological Society of Japan Prize (ESJ Prize) is the most prestigious award given by the Ecological Society of Japan and is awarded to ESJ members who have made outstanding contributions to ecology and have a strong record of research achievements. Awardees are selected from the set of nominees recommended by ESJ members, and the awards presented at the annual meeting.

The Miyadi Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Miyadi Award) → Past recipients

The Miyadi Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Miyadi Award) aims to encourage ecological research in Japan by honoring young ESJ members who have made outstanding contributions to ecology and have a strong record of research achievements. Three awardees will be selected from applicants who are either self-nominated or have been nominated by other ESJ members. Awardees will receive a prize of 100,000 JPY from the Foundation for awards of the Ecological Society of Japan.

The Oshima Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Oshima Award)→ Past recipients

The Oshima Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Oshima Award) is awarded to mid-career ESJ members who have made outstanding contributions to ecology by conducting long-term ecological field studies. Two awardees will be selected from applicants who are either self-nominated or have been nominated by ESJ members. Recipients will receive a prize of 100,000 JPY from the Foundation for awards of the Ecological Society of Japan.

The Young Scholar Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Suzuki Award)→ Past recipients

The Young Scholar Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Suzuki Award) is awarded to young ESJ members (graduate students and researchers who completed their PhD in the last 4 years) who have shown a strong record in ecological research. Three awardees will be selected from among self-nominated applicants. Recipients will receive a prize of 50,000 JPY from the Foundation for awards of the Ecological Society of Japan.

The Natural History Award of the Ecological Society of Japan → Past recipients

The Achievement Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Achievement Award)→ Past recipients

The Achievement Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (ESJ Achievement Award) is awarded to ESJ members who have made notable contributions to the management and activities of the ESJ and the growth and development of ecology. Awardees will be selected from among candidates recommended by board members following Chapter 4 Article 28 of the articles of incorporation of the ESJ.

The Ecological Research Paper Award→ Past recipients

The Ecological Research Paper Award is awarded to the authors of outstanding papers published in Ecological Research, the English language journal of the Ecological Society of Japan. Approximately five papers will be selected annually. As submissions to Ecological Research are also open to non-ESJ-members, recipients are not limited exclusively to ESJ members.

The Annual Meeting Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (Poster Award)→ Past recipients

The Annual Meeting Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (Poster Award) aims to encourage young researchers to present their research by recognizing young ESJ members who have given excellent poster presentations at the annual meeting.

The Annual Meeting Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (English Presentation Award)→ Past recipients

The Annual Meeting Award of the Ecological Society of Japan (English Presentation Award) aims to encourage scientific communication in English in the ESJ by recognizing young ESJ members who have given excellent oral presentations in English at the annual meeting.

The Biwako Prize for Ecology→Past recipients

The Biwako Prize for Ecology is awarded to researchers under the age of 50 who have made outstanding contributions to the study of aquatic ecology and related fields. Recipients are not limited to ESJ members.
